inPractice® Introduces Unique Point-of-Care Reference Tool for Oncology Nurses

inPractice® Resources, LLC, a subsidiary of Clinical Care Options (CCO), today announced the launch of a first-of-its kind education and reference tool dedicated to the needs of all nurses who provide care for patients with cancer. inPractice®Oncology Nursing is a point-of-care tool that combines high-quality nursing-focused content, oncology-specific clinical decision support, patient education, and professional development resources, including nursing continuing education credits, in a single, easily accessible digital resource.

Nurses using inPractice can browse original expert-authored content written by more than 70 nursing experts under the direction of Editors-in-chief Dawn Camp-Sorrell, MSN, FNP, AOCN, and Rebecca Hawkins, MSN, ANP, AOCN, ACHPN. inPractice is continuously updated to ensure content is current and nurses are accessing the latest in evidence-based practice, regulatory guidelines, documentation, and quality initiative highlights.

“Our goal is to provide oncology nurses with a unique resource that delivers the latest information on both cancer treatment and patient care,” said Ms. Hawkins. “inPractice offers nurses the tools they need to apply best practices and management guidelines to patient care.“

According to Ms. Camp-Sorrell, “this comprehensive resource is also focused on the reality that patients are living with cancer, and it includes practice standards for care of the whole patient—physical, psychosocial, and spiritual. inPractice includes content modules that address caregiver and survivorship issues as well as long-term complications, health promotion, and issues like anxiety, depression, and grief.”

To advance professional development, inPractice provides nurses with the ability to earn more than 50 continuing education hours with each annual subscription. The core information and posttest questions provided within the resource are also designed to support oncology nursing certification and licensing requirements.

inPractice and CCO have long been committed to the continuing education of oncologists and nurses who care for patients with cancer,” said Dr. Jeffrey Drezner, Managing Director, inPractice. “With its seamless combination of educational content, its focus on oncology patient care, and its innovative proprietary technological platform, inPractice is truly the first of its kind—and will serve as a valuable tool for both nurses and healthcare organizations seeking to elevate patient care and satisfaction.”

inPractice is designed to meet the reference and educational needs of specialists, with deep, specialty-specific information and recommendations for patient care. In addition to Oncology Nursing, inPractice is currently available in specialties including hepatology, HIV, oncology, and rheumatology, with plans to expand into additional specialties.

Currently available online, inPractice will introduce new mobile apps for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets in Summer 2014.
