Clinical Care Options® to Deliver Presentation at 2014 Genitourinary Cancers Symposium

American Society of Clinical Oncology highlights study on renal cell carcinoma as one of symposium’s top 8 noteworthy presentations

Clinical Care Options (CCO), the leading provider of clinical educational content and technological learning platforms, along with its partners, the Annenberg Center for the Health Sciences and AXDEV Group, announced today that it will present key findings from a national educational needs assessment on renal cell carcinoma in a poster presentation at the 2014 Genitourinary Cancers Symposium, January 30 - February 1, 2014. Today the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) announced that the presentation was considered one of the “8 noteworthy studies among more than 500 abstracts” to be presented at the 3-day meeting.

On behalf of the study collaborators, Brian I. Rini, MD, Professor of Medicine, Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute, and Jim Mortimer, Senior Director, Oncology Program and Partnership Development, CCO, will present Abstract 404: “Professional Practice Gaps and Barriers to Optimal Care of Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) Among Oncologists in the United States.” The poster presentation will take place Saturday, February 1, at 6:45 am and again at 11:30 am in the Golden Gate Hall at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis in San Francisco, California.

The study, supported by an unrestricted grant from Pfizer, was designed to measure professional practice gaps and barriers to optimal care among medical oncologists across the United States. Study data suggest that practice gaps exist among physicians caring for patients with renal cell carcinoma. The study also provides evidence that clinical tools, educational programs, and performance improvement interventions can positively affect those gaps.

“CCO is honored to have our study named among the most noteworthy presentations at the Genitourinary Cancers Symposium,” said Trish Bates Doolin, General Manager, CCO Oncology. “As part of our commitment to improving patient outcomes, we strive to consistently assess and create innovative continuing medical education programs that address key clinical practice challenges.”

“AXDEV Group is proud of our continued collaboration with the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences at Eisenhower and CCO,” said Dr. Sean Hayes, General Manager, AXDEV Group. “Together, our organizations are working to support medical oncologists in the continuing improvement of their clinical practice.”
