Clinical Care Options® to Deliver Presentation at 2013 American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting

Study identifies practice gaps in the treatment of CML, ALL, and B-cell lymphomas

Clinical Care Options (CCO), the leading provider of clinical educational content and technological learning platforms, along with its partners, the Annenberg Center for the Health Sciences and AXDEV Group, is proud to have been selected to present key findings from a national educational needs assessment on hematologic malignancies in an oral presentation at the 55th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH), December 7 -10, 2013.

On behalf of the study collaborators, Editorial Director Kevin Obholz, PhD, will present Abstract 774: “Practice Gaps and Barriers to Optimal Care Among Hematologists and Medical Oncologists Treating Patients With Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), and B-Cell Lymphomas in the United States: Results of a 2-Phase Qualitative/Quantitative Study.” The oral presentation will take place Monday, December 9, at 7:30 PM in Room 391-392 at the Ernest M. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The study, supported by an unrestricted grant from Pfizer, was designed to quantify and qualify professional practice gaps and barriers to optimal care among hematologists and medical oncologists at academic medical centers as well as community cancer centers and clinics in the United States. Data from the study provide compelling evidence of specific practice gaps among physicians caring for patients with CML, ALL, and B-cell lymphomas and support the design of clinical tools, educational programs, and performance improvement interventions.

“AXDEV Group has designed and conducted studies to assess the needs of oncologists nationally and internationally,” said Dr. Sean Hayes, General Manager, AXDEV Group. “We are honored to have collaborated with the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences at Eisenhower and CCO on this study, which we believe will help key stakeholders in the field understand how to best support and empower hematologists and medical oncologists in the continuing improvement of their clinical practice.”

“CCO is dedicated to collaborating with our partners and supporters on innovative continuing medical education programs that help improve outcomes by addressing critical clinical knowledge needs,” said Trish Bates Doolin, General Manager, CCO Oncology. “The opportunity to share these findings with our colleagues at the ASH annual meeting is an honor.”
